Just like a choir singing rich harmonic tones to make beautiful music, a few individuals joining together to make something of beauty or benefit is a wondrous thing to behold and to be part of. There may be one or two people involved who are seen as the leaders, but without the engagement of the group there would be no tangible measureable result. Each person’s contribution will look different. Ideally, each is given the chance to participate and hold their part of it. When this happens a valuable kind of wholeness forms that would not be possible otherwise.

When singers harmonize, each one must sing their own tones to bring about the fullness of the sound. Keep this in mind as you participate in any kind of group endeavor. Sometimes others need to be encouraged; sometimes they need direction, sometimes-gentle correction, sometimes-respectful space to do their unique part. Trust in the larger field of group intent. Do your best to hold up your end, without falling into the trap of thinking you have to do it all. If you’re trying to do too much, look to add additional resources or another person to help. Pay attention to the right number of people needed, and what each person brings to the whole that is valuable and worthy.

To birth something that did not exist until you made it is deeply satisfying, primal, and life affirming.

Many eggs go unfertilized. This is the law of nature and has nothing to do with you. Do not take it personally if some of your creative expressions go unnoticed by others. You must continue to release them as they occur. Try to cultivate a neutral relationship with them. They are your issue, but they may or may not have a life of their own.

Creativity comes in many forms. Sometimes it can look a lot like play. Everyone has some sort of creative potential that is worthy of expression. This has little to do with what we think of as talent. The over-focus on talent is a perversion by society of a basic human capacity. Whether it is expressed as an invention, a meal, a new room, a short story, or a new method of doing something, you have the capacity to create. The magic occurs when creativity comes from a place of pure curiosity and authentic impulse, rather than the need to solve a problem or achieve an outcome.

You cannot control whether your creative endeavors succeed or fail. Once they have left you, you may be able to assist their journey, but you cannot control it. This is a lesson in letting go. It is also a lesson in not having your self-esteem tied up in the results of your creative expressions. Focus instead on gathering energy for the next creative urge. The temple is full of more seeds awaiting manifestation.

There are times when this is absolutely the correct response and will indeed save your life. However, if you never stand and confront your fears, you will always be running. Facing the dragon takes courage this is true. It is also what’s required to grow and develop into our best selves.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines repression as,” a mental process by which distressing thoughts, memories, or impulses that may give rise to anxiety are excluded from consciousness and left to operate in the unconscious”. This is how the dragon is fed and grows more dangerous and unpredictable over time. Anxiety is not one of those states of being that is easy, or that anyone wants to experience. So instead, people develop all sorts of shrewd and creative mechanisms to veer away from it. People drink alcohol, over-indulge in foods or other substances, keep themselves in constant motion, for example.

But the deeper unconscious aspects will have their day – so to speak. At night, when you are asleep and the conscious mechanisms are off-line, repressed things are reviewed or take shape in the dreamtime. Nightmares are one indication that some sort of repression may be going on. Illnesses can sometimes be linked to repressed emotions that have become buried in the body tissues. If un-locked by conscious attention along with a higher degree of courage and honesty, profound healing can occur. Turning to facing your fears allows new personal capacities to be unleashed.

There are abundant resources to aid you in discovering the ways in which your own unique repression pattern can be disbursed, removed and healed. Becoming aware that you may be doing this is a major first step.
